Abstract: In this talk, I will argue for an ontological distinction between illocutionary and cognitive actions and their nonenduring products, such as an act of claiming and a claim (the nonenduring product of the speech act) and act of deciding and a decision (the nonenduring product of the mental act), a distinction that goes back to Twardowski. I will elaborate how the two sorts of entities differ fundamentally in how they relate to time.
